As U.S President Barack Obama cut short his vacation in
Hawaii and fly back to Washington in the hopes of getting a deal to avert the
so-called "fiscal cliff", I think he should spend the time in Washington
on a more fruitful venture. President Obama and U.S Treasury Secretary Timothy
Geithner need to stop trying to get a deal from the Republicans and just
prepare for the day America
goes over the cliff.
I say this because it seems clear to me there’s no deal to
be made. Even in Singapore, we know of the a “no-new-taxes” pledge signed by most
Republicans in the U.S Congress and how they have even balked at signing “Plan B”,
a Republican bill that is basically a tax hike on anyone making over $1 million
per year.
Seriously, if the Republicans in the U.S Congress can’t even
agree to sign a no-hope bill on a tax increase for millionaires, President
Obama have no chance to get anything out of them. If that’s the case, then President
Obama needs to have a Plan B of his own; a plan to deal with the situation when
America
goes over the fiscal cliff.
