A Whole New Level of Stupidity

In the fight against video game piracy, games developers had tried some pretty stupid stuff over the years. However Ubisoft is about to bring the anti-piracy fight to a whole new level of stupidity because Ubisoft's upcoming PC game, Assassin's Creed II, will require a constant internet connection.

It seems Assassin's Creed II is going to be a MMO because according to Ubisoft, if a player loses internet connection while playing, the game "will pause while it tries to reconnect." And if a connection cannot be found, the server restores your last saved game, which can only be continued once there is an internet reconnection.

Talk about bring stupid! I don’t even understand why I have to have an internet connection to “verify” the game before I can start playing, and now Ubisoft want me to have an internet connection at all times to play the game?

What about people without internet? Or people whose internet connection is down? Or people who use laptops to play? Or…I may like Assassin's Creed, but I think I’ll be skipping Assassin's Creed II.

Heard alot about the first Assasins' Creed. Could you comment on the whole gameplay? Just over the weekend i almost ended up buying the game. But..

If it decides to take off with an MMO Style for the part2(?) it would be pretty sweet on multiplayer, no? Or is this in single player mode only?

Thx

Okay, I always wanted to do a review of the game. Gameplay is pretty simple as you are an assassin who go around killing targets in 3 different cities during the time of the Crusades. Before the hit, you have to gather info on where the targets would be at and how best to take them. Gathering info is actually a series of mini-games and the actual assassinations are usually fights between you and the target with his guards. Combat is poor. Once you got the counter move, you are almost unbeatable.
However the story shines in the game. You are actually a guy named Desmond in modern times who was kidnapped by some scientists who put Desmond into a sci-fi machine which can scan the memories of Desmond’s ancestors. They want to know the location of an artifact found by one of Desmond’s ancestor. The story takes awhile to get going but it has deceit, betrayal, and redemption.
Single player mode only but in a way, it's a sandbox game because you can go anywhere u want

It depends on what genre you’re interested in. I mostly play RPG but not recently. These are a few recent games I played which are quite good.
Action- GTA 4
Strategy- Majesty 2 (a very tough game)
MMORPG- Age of Conan
