Just a few days ago, I spoke of the troubles at the Singapore People’s Party (SPP). In the past week, things within the SPP went from bad to worse.
On Friday, 6 members of the SPP Central Executive Committee (CEC) quit amid problems between them and SPP veteran leader Mr. Chiam See Tong and his wife Mrs. Lina Chiam. Now it seems, the SPP (being the small party that it is) is having problems filling up the seats in its CEC.
So far, the SPP leadership has yet to confirm the line-up of the new CEC. However according to media reports, former SPP chairman Sin Kek Tong was voted into the new CEC despite not filing any nomination papers for the post. Worse, Mr. Sin had indicated early that he would not be contesting for a place on the CEC and didn’t even knew he was elected before being inform by others.
I would say the SPP is in a mess but that would be an understatement.
